After a rough couple of weeks, it’s time to celebrate the community and start to heal. This week, check out Mumson’s art festival or see a national act at Levitt AMP on Monday. Or join thousands at the Boilermaker and cheer local runners before enjoying Saranac’s new brew at the after-party.

Good luck to all the Boilermaker runners this weekend!

It’s that time of year again. For those racing, it’s time to strap on those runners and hit the Utica streets. For spectators, it’s time to find your place along the route and cheer your runner or team on.

Did you know the Boilermaker isn’t just about a race? While several races bring many people from around the world to Utica, its goal is community pride. Over the race’s 40+ years, it’s grown into an event for everyone. From the health and wellness expo to the Varick St. after-party, it’s definitely time to check out this good time.

The MVHS Health and Wellness Expo is at MVCC on July 11 and 12. You’ll find a variety of Boilermaker merchandise and exhibits with something for everyone. The afterparty is from 8 to noon on the 13th at FX Matt Brewery. Try Saranac’s new Weekend Warrior beer, enjoy other refreshments, and live music.

Good news this week in the 315

Mohawk Valley victim organizations will receive close to $4 million in funding. Hochul’s office announced $379.5 million in funding to be spread across the state. The funding will help organizations, hospitals, and agencies provide services to victims of crimes such as counseling, emergency shelter, legal assistance, and more.

The Cornhill Empowerment Center is running a STEM class for local youths from 8 to 15. The classes are designed to help teach Cornhill kids skills to pursue further education in the STEM fields. The program runs from July 7 to August 14.

A Clinton youth hockey player was recently diagnosed with leukemia and could use the community’s help. Gavin Mosher, a Clinton Comet’s 16u hockey player, is going through inpatient treatments at Galisano in Syracuse. The link to his GoFundMe is here to help.
