Anita Stevens-Swan Humane Society and the First Source Community Engagement team created the Paws and Pages Reading Program to help kids practice reading and for animals to relax. Father’s Day gift guide for the Mohawk Valley dads.
Father’s Day is coming up. It’s time to think about a gift for the legends we call father. Why grab another meaningless gift he won't use, when there are so many options locally for each of the dad archetypes?
Here’s a breakdown of some great local businesses with gifts Dad will love.
For the bourbon lover
Or whatever liquor your father enjoys. The key is to splurge a bit. Get him the top-shelf stuff he loves, but gives up to pay for Little League or dance classes. A bottle of Angel’s Envy, Patron, or Crystal Head.
Bremer’s Wine & Liquor
📍 4684 Commercial Dr., New Hartford
City Liquors
📍 1905 Genesse St. Utica
Seneca Wine & Liquors
📍 8630 Seneca Turnpike, New Hartford
For the golf lover
Golf is one of the biggest dad pastimes. Why not spoil him with something new? Maybe golf shoes, new golf shirts, even a set of clubs or that putter he’s put off forever.
Gary’s Golf Shop
📍 Twin Ponds Golf & Country Club
Hole in One Golf Center
📍 349 Oriskany Blvd. Whitesboro
Sportsplex at the Turning Stone
📍 5218 Patrick Rd. Verona
For the cigar lover
Cigars a very popular with busy dads. There’s a meditative aspect to smoking a cigar, enjoying the quiet backyard after a day of lawncare and BBQ. You can find cigars at different smoke shops, but these have large humidors with large selections.
Habanos Cigars
📍 724 Varick St. Utica
No. 6 Park Row
📍 6 W. Park Row, Clinton
Smoke & Vapor
📍 4683 Commercial Dr., New Hartford
For the sports lover
Ah, the sports dad. His entire wardrobe consists of his team’s colors. He even has a Bills tie. But he doesn’t need another jersey or t-shirt. Let’s find him something unique. Maybe a collectible.
Hall of Frames
📍 2150 Oriskany St. West, Utica
The Valley Sports Card & Collectible
📍 105 S. Main St. Herkimer
Cooperstown Connection
📍 Sangertown Square Mall
For the musician
Some dads love to play along with whatever is considered “Dad rock” now. When I was younger, it was Zepplin and Journey. So, hearing Creed and Crossfade is Dad rock, which upsets me a bit. Anyway, dad could always use new strings, picks, case, or that Les Paul Studio he’s been eyeing.
Big Apple Music
📍 8441 Seneca Turnpike, New Hartford
K-Music
📍 1155 Mohawk St. Utica
Oneida Music Company
📍 84 8th St. W, Oneida
